Nature Photography

Left to my own devices, with no need to work for a living, I'd spend most of my time doing nature photography. I'd love to spend more time in the field, exploring wild places and capturing some of that wild glory on film. Photography doesn't end with exposures, however; I'd also like to have more time available to adjust and print the images I create.

The cold, cruel world being what it is, I spend most of my time doing more practical work, and only get a few short trips each year. Fortunately, my Mendocino Coast neighborhood provides many glorious opportunities for nature photography nearby.

Until recently, I did all of my printing, both color and black & white, in my own, old fashioned, wet darkroom. Over the last couple of years, I've been using the darkroom less, and the computer printer more. Now that I'm getting good scans from film, I may bulldoze the darkroom. I may get converted to digital shooting someday, but so far I haven't used a digital camera that's as good as my humble, twenty year old 35mm film SLR.
